Description
Essay titled, "Bread Crumbs or Yeast: Indo-Canadian Popular Culture and its Growth Potential" written by Brenda E. F. Beck on June 20, 1983 at the University of British Columbia. The essay maps out a set of directions in which Indo-Canadian culture can fruitfully grow. The author compares Indo-Canadian folklore with yeast instead of bread crumbs, asserting that old folk themes in new Canadian cultural frames should produce creative outcomes. Further, the essay provides a description of the existing Indo-Canadian folklore and suggests areas for growth through different mediums of expression.
