Description
Sewak Singh Dhaliwal was born in Canada. His father Giani Harnam Singh was one of the first 100 South Asians to immigrate to BC in 1906. Dhaliwal was the first South Asian member of the Teamsters Union in BC when he joined in 1960. In this audio interview clip, he recalls his early experiences in trucking. Archival documents and personal photos are included with permission of Sewak Singh Dhaliwal. This clip is from a full-length interview conducted by Dr. Anushay Malik on behalf of the BC Labour Heritage Centre's "Union Zindabad!" Project, 2021.
