Description
Founding Canadian Farmworkers' Union (CFU) organizer Raj Chouhan recalled incidents of threats and physical violence from farmers while organizing with the union. He describes an incident in which he was on a picket line alone and assaulted; police were called and he was scared he would be implicated as the perpetrator rather than the victim. Stuart Rush, activist and legal volunteer for the CFU, happened to pass by and intervene. This clip is from a full-length interview conducted by Dr. Anushay Malik on behalf of the BC Labour Heritage Centre's "Union Zindabad!" Project, 2021.
