Bikram grew up in Cowichan Valley, where his father Jaswant Singh Berar connected South Asian lumber workers with the International Woodworkers of America Local 1-80 (Duncan). Berar Road in Lake Cowichan bears the family name. This is a full-length interview conducted by Dr. Anushay Malik on behalf of the BC Labour Heritage Centre's "Union Zindabad!" Project, 2021.
